About Marbella West
Marbella West begins where the Golden Mile ends. San Pedro de Alcántara, once an independent fishing village with its own church and market, is now the green residential heart of the west, with the Guadalmina river and its golf course running through it towards the sea.
The area offers larger gardens and better value per m² than the Mile, with a genuine village atmosphere — tapas bars, a Tuesday market and chiringuitos on the beach at El Saladillo.

History
Where it began
San Pedro de Alcántara grew up around its 19th-century church and the sugar-cane and almond fields behind the beach. From the 1960s the first beachfront urbanisations — Costabella, Marbesa, Guadalmina — turned it into a residential coast, and in 1984 the village was absorbed into the municipality of Marbella.
Future
Where it is heading
Marbella's growth is running west. As the Golden Mile runs out of plots, buyers follow the coast towards Guadalmina and San Pedro, where boutique beachfront projects and the New Golden Mile beyond are steadily closing the price gap with the Mile itself.
